“It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” Said Harry Truman, the 33rd President of the United States. This quote highlights the importance of selflessness when being a part of the team. Our team has strived to adhere to this principle. Through triumph or failure, we always would stick together and collectively decide upon the way that a negative outcome could become positive, and if it does become positive, how would we be able to get further in our aims and collectively strive for excellence, and in our hope that we manage to successfully complete our Critical Design Review (CDR). We congratulated each other when we received our Preliminary Design Review back with feedback, but straight away began drawing ideas for our CDR.
A well-organised team broadens the awareness and mindfulness of individual members, allowing the expansion of their capacity to achieve their aims and objectives. In normal terms, a good team helps everyone become more aware and mindful. This makes it easier for each person to do better and reach their goals From day one, we have endeavoured to organise our team in a way that everyone has a partner in their actions. From testing the mathematics to writing up the Preliminary Design Review, and now the CDR, we all work together to ensure that we can achieve everything in perfect harmony. Because, remember, a light bulb does not turn on without a complete circuit. We have tried to perfect our circuit, so that no dark clouds of pessimism rain down and stop us. But look, everyone in the team has had those feelings of doubt, and annoyance, but together, we have always assured ourselves that we were still on course and even now, we still debate our actions and constantly ponder our decisions, but most importantly, as a team.
Teamwork makes dreams work. I’m sure that pretty much everyone’s heard that one. And with our CanSat team, our dreams really worked. In fact, they worked so much that it would be hard to distinguish dream and reality, which can be seen in our latest feedback that we received. Our team had previous experience from the Big Bang competition, where we were nominated for the finals. We didn’t win. But that hasn’t stopped us at all. It has only further fuelled our ambition to go even further in this competition, and prove that the power of teamwork can ignite any ambition, even to look past the detriments of failure. Left to ourselves, we drift and are not fully conscious, it’s human nature. Together, though, as long as we stay connected, we are fully conscious, keeping our dreams alive.
Throughout our ups and downs, we have weathered every storm together, and overcome every challenge that we have faced together. Our shared commitment is like our guiding compass, and through every step we take, and every memory we make, we become stronger. Stronger in our mind and stronger in our actions. Most importantly, the way that we achieve success and the way that we aim to finish our CDR is a way that is done calmly with collective assurance. Because that is what teamwork really is, and that is how we plan to go forward. And as we near the end of our journey, I believe that the way forward is to believe and keep faith. That is the true power of teamwork.
