Greetings from the CanSat team! We’re thrilled to provide you with our first blog update, offering a glimpse into our recent endeavours and exciting developments. As we gear up for the upcoming half term, our focus has intensified as we strive to meet the Critical Design Review (CDR) submission deadline. This milestone represents a pivotal moment for us, where we’ll present a comprehensive overview of our plans and progress thus far. One of the most exciting updates is the arrival of all the sensors we ordered. These essential components will play a crucial role in our CanSat project, providing us with valuable data as we explore the realms of space. With the sensors in hand, our team is eager to integrate them into our 3D model, enhancing its capabilities and functionality. Meanwhile, our talented electrical engineer, Arca, has been hard at work developing the landing system. Despite encountering some challenges after the initial 3D printing, Arca’s determination and ingenuity have propelled the project forward. We’re confident that with Arca’s expertise, we’ll overcome this and any other obstacle that stand in our way. In addition to our technical pursuits, our team has been actively engaging with the community through various channels. Recent articles on the Project Athena website have shed light on specific projects within our initiative, offering insights into our innovative approach. Our head writer, Luca Lo Presti, has also been making waves with his captivating article featured on the This Is Local London news page. Through initiatives like the young reporter scheme, Luca continues to amplify our message and inspire others with his compelling storytelling. On the programming front, significant progress has been made with the implementation of a GPS system. This system will play a crucial role in tracking the CanSat’s location and reporting back to our home base upon launch. While we’ve encountered some production issues with our antenna, we’re actively working to address them and ensure its functionality. Meanwhile, our social media manager, Nish, has been making waves with his creative content strategy. By leveraging platforms like Reddit and crafting humorous memes, Nish has successfully attracted significant engagement and visits to our social media channels. His efforts have been instrumental in raising awareness and garnering support for our project. As we approach the CDR deadline, our team is fully committed to finalizing our plans and intensifying our construction efforts. With our ideas taking shape and our code coming to fruition, we’re excited to shift our focus to completing the 3D printed models in the aftermath of the submission. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey toward space exploration!
